How to do it
- Install Noise Reducer from the App Store and open it.
- Tap to open a video from Photos or Files. You can also record a new one in the app.
- Wait a few seconds while the AI model cleans the sound. Nothing is uploaded.
- Play the original and the cleaned version and switch between them.
- Pick a strength from Light to Max, then save the video to Photos or share it.
What it removes well
The app runs a neural speech model (DeepFilterNet 3). It learned what human voices sound like, so it keeps the voice and drops what is around it. It works best on noise that is not speech: wind, traffic, air conditioning, fans, engine rumble, hum, hiss and the general murmur of a room.
- Outdoor videos: wind, passing cars, a busy street.
- Indoor videos: fans, air conditioning, fridge hum, room noise.
- Events: background chatter and music that is quieter than the speaker.
Why the video quality does not change
Many editors re-export the whole video when you change the sound, which costs time and some quality. Noise Reducer copies the picture across as it is and swaps in the cleaned audio. A 4K clip stays 4K, the frame rate stays the same, and there is no extra compression.

Can I remove background noise from a video without losing quality?
Yes. Noise Reducer replaces only the audio track and copies the picture without re-encoding, so resolution and quality stay the same.
Does it work on videos I downloaded or received?
Yes. Any video you can save to Photos or Files can be opened, including videos from other phones and cameras.
Can it keep the voice and remove music?
It is built to keep speech and remove noise. Quiet background music is usually reduced, but separating loud music from a voice is a different task called stem separation.
